- Historical Significance: Originally named "Chengtian Gate," it was first built in the 15th year of the Yongle era (1417) during the Ming Dynasty. After being reconstructed in the 8th year of the Shunzhi era (1651) during the Qing Dynasty, it was renamed "Tiananmen." On October 1, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong declared the founding of the People's Republic of China here, making it a symbol of the new China.
- Architectural Features: Standing 34.7 meters tall, it consists of a city platform and a city tower, embodying the typical traditional Chinese imperial palace style. The city tower features a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof covered with yellow glazed tiles, with the national emblem of the People's Republic of China suspended at its center. Below, the portrait of Mao Zedong and slogans such as "Long Live the People's Republic of China" and "Long Live the Great Unity of the People of the World" are displayed.
- Cultural Significance: Designated as one of the first batch of National Key Cultural Heritage Protection Units in 1961, it was inscribed as a component of the Beijing Central Axis on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2024.
